The ACS Division of Polymer Chemistry's Membership Committee sponsors a
program to provide funding for polymer graduate students to travel to National
ACS meetings to present the results of their research.Only members of the ACS
AND the Division of Polymer Chemistry who study at U.S. institutions are
eligible for this travel award.
Two $500 grants may be applied for registration, travel, and accommodations,
and are restricted to the next ACS National Meeting. These awards will be limited one per institution.
Awards will be given with preference to the following order:
any applicant who will be making his/her first presentation (regardless of format) at a national ACS meeting.
applicants with outstanding academic merit.
applicants with financial constraints.
The deadline date for electronic receipt of applications for a specific meeting will be no later than the deadline is listed on the POLY web pages.
Winners will be notified one week prior to the deadline for POLY preprint submission.
To be eligible for this award, applications must be making a presentation at a sponsored Division of Polymer Chemistry symposium.
In order to apply for the award, Please send the following documents:
A resume (include permanent address). Maximum 2 pages.
A cover letter (1 page max., 12 pt font, 1.5 spacing) detailing the reasons you
want this award (both scientific and financial) and specifically you should outline
your future career plans in the area of polymer chemistry and describe how you
believe you can impact the field It should be noted whether or not you have made
a previous presentation at a national meeting.

An abstract of the work to be presented, using the standard ACS abstract format (150 words, one paragraph). See ACS web site for guidelines, http://www.acs.org. The abstract MUST be suitable to be presented in a POLY-sponsored symposium or POLY general session.
A letter from your advisor (1 page max., 12 pt font, 1.5 spacing) confirming your participation in the meeting at which you will be making your presentation, commenting on your technical ability and potential in the field of polymer science, and listing any other travel support that would be available from the department or research grants.
A letter from another faculty member (1 page max, 12 pt font, 1.5 spacing) noting your academic and technical merits and potential for success in the field.
How to send these documents:
All documents must be sent electronically and saved in a PDF format. Documents that require signatures must be scanned and saved as a PDF. No hard copies accepted.
Label all files as: Last name_school_document.pdf (For example: Hopkins_UM_application.pdf)
NO zip files in the e-mail will be accepted.
