CALL FOR PAPERS

Polymer Chemistry in Nanotechnology

Division of Polymer Chemistry

226th ACS National Meeting

New York, NY

September 7-11th, 2003

Abstract and Preprint Deadline: May 2, 2003

This symposium will provide an interactive forum for a discussion of the role of polymer chemistry in the development of materials for nanotechnology. Topics will showcase how polymer chemistry and architectural control on the nanometer scale act in concert to produce materials and devices with unique properties. Sessions will focus on polymeric nanomaterials and processes with particular emphasis on the chemical and physical aspects of their design, synthesis, structural evolution, and application.

Topics to be addressed include:

(1) Block Copolymers and Their Applications

          (2) Polymers and Liquid Crystals

          (3) Polymers and Biology

          (4) Polymer Nanocomposites

          (5) Polymers and Nanoelectronics

Invited speakers include:

Guojun Liu (U. of Calgary), Sam Jenekhe (U. of Washington), Paula Hammond (MIT), Virgil Percec (U. of Pennsylvania), Chris Ober (Cornell U.), Takashi Kato (U. of Tokyo), Tim Bunning (Wright Patterson AFB), Ned Thomas (MIT), Paul Calvert (U. of Arizona), Tim Swager (MIT), Dirk Broer (Eindhoven U. of Technology), Emannuel Giannelis (Cornell U.), Yen Wei (Drexel U.)
