Polymers in Medical Devices
We are pleased to announce a symposium on "Polymers in Medical Devices" to be held in New Orleans at the Spring 2008 ACS National Meeting (April 6 Ð 10, 2008).
Polymeric materials are a $150,000,000,000 worldwide industry and still growing. This symposium asks how polymers are used in medical devices, what are the barriers, where are the innovations and what are the commercial realities? Topics will include new polymers, surface modifications, blood interactions, wound healing, inflammation, non-fouling, antibacterial, sterilization, synthetic methodologies for biocompatible polymers, biofilm prevention and mitigation, analytical methods to characterize biodegradable polymers. In addition, device-specific polymer needs for orthopedic, cardiovascular, nerve tissue, catheters, and ophthalmology devices will be addresses.
In addition, we will host a tutorial session focusing on polymer and device design.
