ACS Symposium

Fluorine Containing Polymers

Washington, DC, August 28-September 1, 2005

Abstract/ Preprint Deadline: 25 April, 2005 OASYS Abstract submission open: 28 Feb, 2005 http://www.oasys.acs.org

Invitation. Fluorine containing polymer science and technology is nearly 65 years old and fluoropolymer markets maintain a growth rate above the US GDP. In addition to perfluoropolymers, partially fluorinated polymers will continue to impact a wide range of technologies as better control of their unique optical, electronic, processing, extreme environment stability, and surface properties are achieved. This symposium offers a companion forum to the biannual Fluoropolymer workshop series sponsored by the ACS Division of Polymer Chemistry. Scientists, engineers and technologists interested in the latest developments and advances in this diverse and growing field are invited to contribute oral and poster presentations.

Topics included but not limited to:

  • Fundamental and advanced technology tutorials
  • Polymer and copolymer syntheses and mechanisms
  • Structure / property relationships
  • Coatings and surfaces
  • Biological and biomedical applications
  • Membranes and energy conversion applications
  • Photonic, optical, and electronic applications
  • Industrial elastomers and plastics
  • Nanocomposites and interphases
  • Semi-fluorinated polymers for emerging applications

Symposium Organizers:

Prof. Dennis Smith, Chair, Clemson University, dwsmith@clemson.edu
Dr. William Coggio, 3M Company, St. Paul, MN, wcoggio@mmm.com
Prof. Ken Wynne, Virginia Commonwealth University, kjwynne@vcu.edu
Dr. Bruno Ameduri, ENSC / CNRS, Montpellier, France, ameduri@cit.enscm.fr
Prof. William Brittain, Akron University, wjbritt@uakron.edu

Abstracts and POLY preprints must be submitted online through ACS OASys at: http://www.oasys.acs.org.Ê Approved templates for preprints may be downloaded at http://uweb.txstate.edu/science/polymerpreprints/.

Deadline for submission is April 25, 2005.
