Dear Colleagues: Call for Abstracts and Preprints, deadline May 2, 2003 POLY Symposium on "Biocatalysis in Polymer Science" American Chemical Society Fall Meeting New York, Sept. 7-11, 2002 This symposium will highlight the latest advances in the use of enzymes and micro- organisms in polymer science. The following topics will be included: 1. Novel synthesis of monomers or polymers with enzymes or micro-organisms. 2. Polymer modification reactions, using biocatalysts (microbes or enzymes), including fiber/surface modification 3. Degradation of materials, e.g., microbial or enzymatic hydrolysis 4. Tools in biocatalysis (e.g., immobilization methods, directed evolution of enzymes, metabolic engineering, in vitro or whole cell strategies) 5. Reactor design and reaction parameters The following is a list of confirmed speakers: Hideki Abe, RIKEN Institute, Japan Kurt Brandstadt, Dow Corning Corp. Doug Cameron, Cargill Dow Polymers H. N.
