Polycondensation 2004

The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center,
Roanoke, Virginia,
September 26 - 29, 2004

Sponsored by
The Division of Polymer Chemistry
American Chemical Society

Invitation & General Information

The 5th of an international series on Step Polymerization or Polycondensation will be held at the Virginia Tech Hotel Roanoke and Conference Center (http://www.hotelroanoke.com/) near the Roanoke Airport from September 26-30, 2004. The co-chairs of POLYCONDENSATION 2004 are James E. McGrath (Virginia Tech), Frank W. Harris (University of Akron) and Ed Paschke (Amoco, retired). This will be the 5th in a series, which historically started in Paris in 1996, then continued in Annapolis, MD in 1998, in Tokyo in 2000, and last year in Hamburg, Germany.

The theme of the conference will primarily be polymer synthesis and reactions, although additional related subjects could be included. Talks on linear, branched, special architectures, and network polymerizations are particularly invited.

The meeting will feature an international advisory board, an industrial advisory group, and a local organizing committee. The meeting is expected to attract speakers from around the world, including North and South America, Europe, Australia, and Asia. For further information or to submit a proposed lecture title or poster title, feel free to contact the organizers (Jmcgrath@vt.edu, harris@polymer.uakron.edu, and edpaschke@aol.com). The program will be an ACS Polymer Division Workshop and the details and arrangements are currently being finalized by Neta Byerly (nbyerly@vt.edu, Secretary of the ACS Division of Polymer Chemistry. And as always, Ms. Laurie Good will be handling much of the program scheduling, including receipt of titles, abstracts, etc. (Laurieg@vt.edu).

Please feel free to contact any or all of us for additional information about POLYCONDENSATION 2004 -- and hopefully with news of your intent to participate.
