Invitation & General Information
The Division of Polymer Chemistry, Inc. of the American Chemical Society is planning a major international symposium, the POLY Millennial 2000, to be held from December 9-13th in Hawaii. The conference will be held one week prior to Pacifichem 2000 in order to allow polymer scientists to participate in two international meetings upon making the trip to Hawaii. The meeting will be held on the big island of Hawaii at the Hilton Waikoloa Villages. Thus, participants in both meetings will have an opportunity to visit two different Hawaiian Islands.
The International Polymer Symposium Committee, chaired by Joseph C. Salamone and comprised of Stanley C. Israel, Raphael M. Ottenbrite, James E, McGrath and William H. Daly, is organizing POLY Millennial 2000. The General Chairman of the meeting is William H. Daly. We plan a comprehensive meeting that will include the elements of a typical Biennial Polymer Symposium, but will be expanded to allow presentations to occur concurrently. The Herman F. Mark Award will be presented in a special plenary session during the meeting. We anticipate a four-day, multi-track meeting with at least 600 participants. Currently, symposia on twelve polymer science topics are being planned. The topics and the symposium organizers are listed below. If you are interested in making an oral presentation in one of the symposia, please contact the appropriate session chair(s) listed in the attached program for further information.

Programs
General and Special Topic Poster Sessions
We anticipate that the poster sessions will be a major part of the conference; they will be scheduled separately from the symposia to minimize potential conflicts. A General Topic Poster Session is scheduled as the opening session of the conference. Special Topics Poster Sessions are scheduled to accommodate participants especially interested in one of the symposium topics.
We would like to invite you, or a member of your group, to present a paper or a poster at this meeting. If you are interested in making an oral presentation in one of the symposia, please contact the appropriate session chair(s) listed below for further information. If you are interested in presenting a poster, you should send a proposed title to:

Abstract Guidelines
A copy of the paper/poster submission form found under the program heading must be completed and submitted with each abstract. Each abstract will be reproduced directly. Editing will not be possible. Therefore, authors have full responsibility for correct design and content. Before submitting an abstract, check format, nomenclature, and spelling. Make sure erasures do not show.
The abstract should be typed single-spaced and left justified on plain, 8.5 in x 11 in (21.6 cm x 27.9 cm) white paper. Top margin is 4 cm. Left and right margins are 3.5 cm. Bottom margin is 3.5 cm or greater. Only black ink should be used.
Center the title in 14 pt Times New Roman font in bold. Insert a blank line between title and authors. Center authors in 14 pt Times New Roman font with the presenter underlined if there is more than one author. Affiliations of the authors should be in 12 pt. Times New Roman font, and centered under the authors.
The text should in 12 pt Times New Roman font beginning two spaces below the authors affiliations. Do not indent paragraphs in text.
Symbols, which cannot be typed, should be inserted with black china ink. Ball point pen or pencil will not reproduce clearly. Figures and tables should have individual captions and be glued directly to the abstract; do not use tape.
Literature citations should appear at the bottom of the abstract.
Abstracts must not exceed one page.
Do not fold the abstract. Please mail the camera ready abstract unfolded in a strong package to protect against damage. Please send one original and two copies of your abstract to Robert B. Moore, POLY Millennial Abstract Editor, The University of Southern Mississippi, Department of Polymer Science, P. O. Box 10076, Hattiesburg, MS 39406-0076. |
